A side note to 'Synaptic plasticity' post

The previous writing is long and lacking in images but I promise it is interesting and mind blowing how evolution has developed this system and is well worth the read.

However, I understand it is long so read it in stages if you feel yourself getting bored and if it is feasible I will extract a few parts of it over the coming days and condense them into very short posts with a more visual explanation for anyone who prefers more visuals or just doesn't want to read all of it.
